This is a picture of my still life that I made from Marilyn Clarke’s workshop last Saturday. It was a great class and would recommend it to anyone. Lot’s of fun and learned a lot.

AccuCut Fabric Cutting System
Have a look at the AccuCut Fabric Cutting System. Click on the link to “WATCH THE VIDEO…” at the top of the page to see how the machine works. One of the dies is for cutting squares with pre-cut fringe for rag quilts. There’s a time saver for your Ragtime quilt! I think it would be fun to play with all the different dies, if I had a spare grand or two laying around. On the latest episode of the Quilt Show, Alex and Ricky visit a group of ladies making charity quilts using strips and the quilt-as-you-go stitch and flip method and then they applique a few fun shapes cut with the AccuCut onto the finished quilt. It looked like a lot of fun! The guild may not be able to afford an AccuCut, but they might be able to use the Strip Quilt idea for Community Projects.

Mystery Quilt

April 20, 2008

Shhh! I’m not supposed to let anyone know that I received the last set of instructions earlier. I’m not giving too much away by showing you a close up of one block.  Keep in mind there will be 11 options for you to choose from and it could look completely different. My colours remind me of a watermelon and the circles the seeds.  It’s funny how you like your three colours together before make your final arrangements then one of the colours pops more than you thought.

Another Mystery…

April 19, 2008

I am amazed that I am actually up-to-date on the Mystery Quilt as well! I can see no reason why we can’t share our progress, after all, you were there when I bought the fabric for this project.

I like your guess on the completed block. I can see how there will be numerous layout options for the finished quilt top.

Mystery Quilt, so far …

April 18, 2008

Yep, I’m up-to-date and I wanted to share my progress on the mystery quilt, so far… am I allowed to do that? Ooo, would you like to see my guess about the final block?

Warning! If you want to guess for yourself, don’t scroll to my second image 🙂

Giveaway project

March 25, 2008

I think I might have to make the full-size quilt of this block in these colours –

Indigo & Gold Table Topper

If I had used the same “no press” technique as the Lone Star, I might have finished this much more quickly. But, it took most of yesterday afternoon and I finished the quilting today.

Another Blitz Idea

March 17, 2008

What would you think of the Quiltville Strings  as a variation to the blitz strippy quilt? It would require smaller strips but 4 7/8″ squares would be needed for background fabrics.

Just a thought,

Updated BQG Guild Web Pages

March 4, 2008

I signed up for a new web site on Yahoo for the Guild so that this can be passed on to whomever volunteers to keep it updated. I spent part of the weekend updating pages and uploaded everything to the new site. Most of the updates are on the Quilt Show page, but as you can see I have added the link to the Library Book List as well. For now, the “Blog” button just points to the main WordPress page.

New category – Demos & Tutorials

March 1, 2008

I just came across a very good little video demonstrating how to blind stitch the binding on a quilt over at Embroidery Treasures. I added the link to a new category for Demos & Tutorials so we can transfer it over to the Guild blog when we get that set up. I think it would be very handy for our beginner quilters.

great pictures kate

March 1, 2008

I’ve only seen the raffle quilt up close. It really shows off nicely seeing it through the picture you took Kate. When ever I see the $10 H.H. quilt that Val showed it warms my heart. I wonder if we could get a copy of the pattern and make it a shoppe girl project? I know we missed the current $10 quilt that they are doing, but something to keep in mind for the future.
